This could not have been a more perfect wedding! Held at Ignite Glass Studios, one of Chicago’s most fun wedding venues, the decor was inspired by a sweet summer picnic! We loved the table runners, the sweet S’mores guest favors and of course all the coral charm peonies! Thanks to Melody Joy Photography for the beautiful images and perfect planning from Estera Events, as always.
Wedding ceremonies may be a quick part of the celebrations, but they are our favorite part of the day. We’re those people that tear up regularly during the vows. We love adding floral to the ceremony (Of course we do), but who doesn’t want to be surrounded by a beautiful floral frame when they share their love to their partner in front of their closest friends and family? We have some gorgeous weddings coming up in the next few months and as we were preparing for them we were reminded of this gorgeous day at the Chicago Athletic Association. Our copper chuppah was adorned with greenery and pops of jewel toned blooms, the reception filled with delightful glow and color. Enjoy these photos from Tim Tab Studios!
We’re halfway through August, and soaking up all of the summer vibes right now. We’re also preparing for some beautiful autumnal weddings coming up. This year our busiest season is late summer and all of fall, and we completely understand why. There is something very magical about the end of the season’s last push of floral and foliage into the world. We were reminded of this gorgeous wedding last year at the Bridgeport Art Center, filled with glowing lights (by Art of Imagination), pampas grass centerpieces (One of our personal favorites) and beautiful blooms. Enjoy these photos from Sullivan and Sullivan Studio!
We’ve seen a lot of Garden themed weddings the past few years, and lots of tropical and modern ones as well. It’s been a minute since we’ve re-visited anything vintage, and it was an absolute delight to step back into that very realm of inspiration with this beautiful wedding at the Ravenswood Event Center. The atrium in the space is one of our favorites for wedding ceremonies. Filtered beautiful light, massive windows and a beautiful outdoor space makes it a very Chicago and very special location in the city. Enjoy this wedding coordinated by Chicago Vintage Weddings (Let’s talk about those oriental rugs for the ceremony!) , ceremony by Anita Weds and beautiful photos from Red Wall Photography!
Boutonnieres or pocket squares? Of course we’re biased, we love a little flower tucked into the lapels of suits and tuxedos. There is something delightfully classic and romantic about accessorizing with a touch of nature. The word “Boutonniere” is French for “Buttonhole Flower, and back in the 16th century these were worn to ward off evil or ill luck. They added a little bit of fragrance & hide less pleasant scents. For a time they were worn on battlefields, denoting the family you represented (Funny that we haven’t seen more flowers in Game of Thrones, come to think of it).
These days boutonnieres are most often seen worn at special occasions. Celebrations such as weddings, proms or a very special date. In the past we saw a single carnation or rose, but fortunately now they are very personalized. Sometimes they are chosen to match other flowers in a wedding, and often we’ve included a stem or two to recognize heritage. We’ve included thistle for a groom who was born in Scotland. We’ve also added rosemary to some, representing remembrance and as a nod to the couple’s love for cooking together.
Here are just a few of our favorite boutonnieres. Classic and also not classic, we hope you enjoy!
We post so many photos of our special events, that we sometimes forget to post about the Boutique! Did you know that we have a brick and mortar retail which is 1800 Sq Ft of gifts, jewelry, flowers and more? Here are a few images from this past month. Stop by, our selection is always rotating!
Every year at Fleur we do our best to be the best that we can. This winter we decided to host a winter clothing drive benefiting the Connections for Abused Women & their Children.
Beginning Saturday November 11th through Sunday December 17th we will be accepting winter clothing donations at Fleur. Bring in some new or gently used women & children's clothing including Coats, Boots, Hats, Gloves, Sweaters, Socks - and even some self care items including yoga mats, slippers, transit cards & toiletries. Using a self-help, empowerment approach, they provide a shelter for women and children, counseling, advocacy, and a 24-hour hotline for people affected by domestic violence. They work for social change through education, service collaboration, and institutional advocacy.
We look so forward working with you to help make a difference!
We finally are blogging this beautiful & bright wedding at The Adler Planetarium! Although we love neutral wedding palettes, it's so fun when you add a little bit of brightness into the day. We were thrilled with these photos from Tim Tab Studios and the day was perfect with Wrap it Up Parties. Love and good vibes all around!
This morning we were thrilled to see that one of our favorite classic weddings was featured on one of our favorite blogs. A ceremony overlooking Lake Michigan was the perfect backdrop for a tailored but romantic collection of blooms. It was the perfect afternoon coordinated by SQN Events at the Shoreacres Country Club. Kina Wicks Photography beautifully captured these photos, and you can see a full post on Carats and Cake!
This wedding truly made us happy. Add giant magnolia centerpieces to black taper candlesticks. Include lush, foliage heavy centerpieces and terra cotta lanterns. Charcuterie plates from Boutique Bites and Estera Events there to coordinate it all, and you're left with the most beautiful wedding at the Arranmore Polo Club under a clear tent with 1000's of sparkling lights. Truly a Fleur favorite! Natalie Probst Photography captured everything so perfectly!!
Lately it's been so busy around here, between holidays, weddings, paperwork, end of year wrap ups, family - I don't really feel as though I have the time to update photos and fun things that have been happening. I've been wanting to share with you some photos from one of the most fun experiences of my life - Flowerstock. I was completely honored when Holly Chapple called and asked if I would demonstrate. Teaching in front of a bunch of incredibly talented floral designers is no joke. So arriving in Virginia, I felt a little nervous until my cab came upon Holly's beautiful farm. Smiling faces, rolling hills of trees just turning color, flowers everywhere and a thrilling energy in the air. I always feel a few jitters before standing in front of people, but this weekend I felt more confident than ever. Friends, flowers, live music, classes, education, nature and so much more! I think all business owners sometimes doubt ourselves during some point of our careers, and this little opportunity reminded me of how much I love my business. Enjoy just a few photos of some of one of my favorite weekends in 2016!
This May wedding was so classic, beautiful and timeless. The bride looks like a model (and how about her gown?!!). The decor is so simple and perfect. We couldn't love this wedding more. It was lovely working with Havil and Events at The Kitchen and we're overjoyed with the photos from Jacqueline at Olivia Leigh Photographie & Associates!
It was nearly impossible to choose which photos from Kina Wicks Photography to post from our Dutch Masters class this past April! Everything was absolutely gorgeous, we loved meeting so many wonderful and talented students! And the nosh from Boutique Bites was outstanding. A huge thank you to Workshop Chicago for the space!
Just a week ago we had the pleasure of designing a tropical, Hawaiian themed baby shower for our wonderful and endlessly talented friend, Katie Jayne of Jayne Weddings! Pink flamingo, feathery peonies and tropical blooms & foliage were the backdrop for this super happy celebration. We even had our own 11 minute tropical rain storm, to leave us all refreshed! Amanda Megan Miller snapped some gorgeous photos, and Elysia Root made the most incredible cake!! We can't wait to meet Katie's little one!
It's been a month since we've posted, & that's just a small indication of all the amazing designs we were working on throughout the month of May! The professional photos are beginning to roll in, and we're starting off the season with these romantic images from Sarah Postma Photography. This gorgeous wedding at the Union League Club was classic and filled with spring blooms. We couldn't have been happier with such a sweet kick off to the wedding season!
We don't even know where to begin with these beautiful photos from Kyle John Photography! This wedding at Morgan Manufacturing could not have been more beautiful and amazing. Teamed with Estera Events, it was pure delight. The soft blue gowns and linens, the fresh floral and candles and glow. It's truly a perfect setting.
This past May we worked on such a beautiful wedding in the palette of blue. Hosted at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, the arrangements reflected wild gardens full of plush garden roses and peonies. Thrilled to partner with Shannon Gail Weddings, we loved every single detail of this day. Hanging branches filled with foliage, sweet wreaths, and the most wonderful families. Enjoy the beautiful photos from T & S Hughes Photography!
Last November was one of our favorite weddings. Reception held at the Langham Hotel, the palette was elegant, soft and approachable. The dreamy and exquisite photos from Clary Pfeiffer capture the day perfectly! A huge congratulations to Caroline and Brian!
