One moment at a time

Earlier this morning I was watching raindrops fall onto the grass in Minnesota.  Slowly moving my vision across the greenery, I was lost in sand, then water, pine and finally the sky.  Oh Minnesota, thank you for your big sky.  Once a year Davey and I travel up north to a quiet little lake and rest.  I value this time so dearly.  It's a home very dear to him, a place that fostered a love of nature, so much imagination and a corner in the world where family would gather and spend time laughing.  It's wonderful.  AND it also reminds me of my childhood, the small cottage on the river with the lobster art on the dark wooden walls in the kitchen.  The bee sting on my bum when I ran across the dock too quickly.  The pontoon rides along St Joseph river, the neighbor's swing set, and the white cat at the little restaurant we would occasionally eat at.  When working through a thick batter of design, flowers, linens and many, many opinions, it's hard to bake the perfect pastry.  However after little getaways like this filled with the person you love, family, nature, and memories that humble your soul and rest your spirit it's almost like you can take over the world.  One memory, one moment at a time.
