A bridal bouquet or two

Thursday, May 13, 2010

It has been hectic around here and by no means is is getting any easier.   I’ve had a number of really bizarre dreams in the past week, mostly because of working so much.  One was just poppies (total side note:  I almost always type “poopies” first instead of “poppies” and immediately the song “Shipoopie” pops into my head) and anemones floating past my face, over and over in the palette of yellow.  The other was two slugs that were H U G E that I didn’t want to touch but was trying to save them and place into a terrarium.  I don’t know.  Odd.   Here are two bridal bouquet we made in the last week.

Garden roses, poppies, I love the juxtaposition of the large blooms next to the little bells.  And the ribbon is a soft, sweet color.

Oh!  And why yes!  That’s one of the many ceramic cups we carry by SODA by Amy!

From these two images and a number earlier you can see how obsessed I have been with poppies lately.

But the next one is equally as striking, in a more refined manner.  This is a bouquet of miniature calla lilies, agapanthus and to die for lady slipper orchids.  I like the looped ribbon treatment.  I like ribbon in general.

Mother’s Day!

Thursday, May 6, 2010

Dont forget to call your Momma!

The shop is starting to over flow with flowers for Mother’s Day.  I can’t even count how many people stopped in yesterday because the fragrance flooded the streets of Logan Square with scents of lilac, garden roses, peonies!  I’m totally digging it.  Okay, enough procrastinating.  I have to get to the wholesalers.

I’m crazy for these blue mason jars.  I’ve been collecting them for some time and have a place-card table vision in my head.

That fever few is just too much!  It’s darling!

Oh ranunculus.  You are the one that will break my heart.

Bleeding hearts!!  YES!

Photoshoot

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

We worked on a photo shoot today, but I don’t want to give up all the details just yet.  Here are some images until I have the real ones.  The peonies are so amazing that they made me want to cry.  And their fragrance?!  OMFG!

The little terrarium is just killing me.

The succulents are wonderful too.  Did you know you can root them?  Of course you did.  In our kitchen we have a bunch that are the most perfect shade of green with a pink tip from the sunshine.  They face the east and are amazing.  Oh, but back to the succulents in weddings.  Since you can root them, they are just like little keepsakes.  As you can watch them grow as your marriage blooms.  Yeah, I said it.  And I mean it, too.

A bridal bouquet

Monday, May 3, 2010

I can’t seem to wake up today!  Tomorrow we have a photo shoot.  And right now I am gonna go jog and then some yoga.  But here is a white bridal bouquet. It’s very tailored and elegant with the orchids and callas, but the ranunculus and peonies still give it a little bit of romance and softness.  The peonies are just dreamy!

The rest of the wedding was filled with floating peonies and tons of candles.  Can’t wait for the glowing photos!!

Monday Morning

Monday, May 3, 2010

Even after all madness at work, I still enjoyed arranging a little bouquet this morning in our kitchen.

Oh!  And look at the very pretty photos from the Moira K Lime trunk show, here.

The first three days of May.

Monday, May 3, 2010

Early May.  It’s 10:44am and I have been awake since 6am.  I am finishing my gen mai cha, took out the trash, rearranged a little bouquet I brought home and ate some toast.   It’s an incredibly beautiful month and I teeter between thinking that it is my favorite (or is is April.., but really.  Does it matter when they’re neighbors?)  This first weekend was filled with three weddings and three sets of darling couples.  I will post most of them when I have the professional pictures.    I admit, I’m a little pooped out.  :)

This is a typical looking day at work.

The fragrance from all the lilacs was just heaven.  Can someone PLEASE tell me where to buy lilac and peony essential oils?

I know Harrod’s in London had some.  And once I bought soap in Portland that’s scent was pulled from mimosa blooms.  Ten years later and I am STILL searching for it!
